The War Against #Jan25 Continues in Media Continues : Now It is A TV Series

And the war against 25 January revolution in the mainstream media by the State itself continues ,today we found out the ministry of interior reportedly interfered to suspend the broadcast of a TV series starring a group of  a Pro-#Jan25 revolution actors because among its characters a corrupted police officer before the revolution !!

Yup according to the producers and makers of the TV series “The people of Alexandria” {Ahl Exenderia} may not be broadcast next Ramadan on Al Hayat TV and Mehwar TV channels after pressures from the ministry of interior aka security apparatuses.

Stated-owned “Media City for production” ; the producer of the series admitted that there were pressures from security apparatuses on the two channels not to air the TV series. For the production company , this will be a huge financial loss. The ads have been booked and actually we got billboards all over Cairo about this TV series.

The Holy Month of Ramadan will commence next week and it is well known fact that it is the golden season for TV shows and TV soap operas in the Arab region.

“The people of Alexandria” is a socio-political TV series written by writer Belal Fadl and starring Amr Waked and Basma Ahmed. According to the synopsis of the series , it is about a corrupted police officer in Alexandria who was punished in 2010.

I believe that this is another sequel to Fadl’s hit series in 2010 “The people of Cairo” where he criticized powerfully and boldly the political and social status of the Egyptian society.

Fadl issued a long statement about what happened earlier today in Arabic on his official Facebook page saying what happened was unprecedented and did not happen in the time of Mubarak.

He also revealed that the National TV decided not to air the series on its network because the series criticized police officers. Fadl also demanded an explanation for what happened.

He also referred to the fact that there was an online campaign launched to boycott the TV series by a group of Pro El-Sisi/Pro-Mubarak supporters who hate its crew from the #25 Jan traitors !!

Beside Fadl you got a true Pro-Jan25 cast whether Amr Waked or Basma Ahmed or veteran actress and leftist activist Mohsena Tawfik.

Amr Waked is already under fire for being one of the earliest actors to publicly support the 25 January and to join the protesters in Tahrir square. Insisting that he comes from Palestinian family “which is untrue ” , Amr Waked is attacked usually in the Anti-Jan25 Revolution TV shows and Facebook pages.

Basma Ahmed is the wife of the Pro-Democracy Liberal politician Amr Hamazawy.

El-Mehawar network said that it would go on and broadcast the series. I do not know about Al Hayat TV network. Already the promo of the series was released on online.

“The people of Alexandria”–2014- Promo

On twitter Amr Waked and Hisham Selim , another renowned actor commented about the news of suspending the broadcast of the series.

Amr Waked : Are we back to 2010

Hisham Selim : I am waiting at my house to be arrested because I starred a series along with the spies Amr Waked and Basma and produced by the Media City. Old Egypt is still there.

There is a hashtag started on Sunday’s afternoon against the TV series’ ban.

It started that TV hosts like Reem Magued have no place on the screen now and replaced by hateful ignorant bigots , then TV shows like Bassem Youssef’s El-Bernmag are suspended by ordered from the Egyptian regime as well Saudi regime too then we got TV series suspended because its writer and its leading actors support The 25th January revolution !!!

Ironically the current constitution recognizes the 25 January as a revolution and newly elected President El-Sisi recognizes the 25 January as revolution in his speeches , so why to fight it like that !?

I know the answer and I think you do know it too.

#AJStafftrial : The shocking verdicts of the day

$

Today the judge will issue his sentence in the infamous Al-Jazeera staff trial. Just after few moments the world will know the fate of those journalists who found them stuck in prison since last December for no other reason except political fights between Cairo and Doha.
The Verdicts are here and they are disgusting and outrageous :
  • Peter Greste , Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fadel are sentenced to 7 years in maximum security prison.
  • 10 years in prison sentence for the absentee defendants including foreign journalists
  • Baher Mohamed got extra three years and LE 5000 for the possession of a bullet
  • Anas El-Beltagy and Ahmed Ibrahim are acquitted.
Foreign ambassadors are attending the trial including the ambassadors of UK , Canada and Australia. The families of the defendants including Greste are here and you can imagine how they feel. I feel so angry. These verdicts are issued one day after John Kerry's visit to Cairo.
You must know there were strong scenarios about today's verdict :
Scenario#1 : The defendants would be acquitted.
Scenario#2 : The defendants would be sentenced but they will be pardon by none other than newly elected President El-Sisi.
The second scenario will take place after the rejection of the appeal according to the law and the appeal will take ages.
This is a clear message to the whole world and journalists in Egypt : Journalism is a crime in
I feel angry and have no temper to discuss fundamental rights and facts. The whole world knows that this trial is a shame for God's sake.

Here is also another storify report about the international reactions following the sentencing. There is an uproar internationally. Netherlands and UK summoned the Egyptian ambassadors and there will be a discussion about the whole matter in the EU Foreign ministers' meeting tonight in Luxembourg

#AJStafftrial : Notes on a scandal

The least thing that can be said about Al Jazeera International staff trial is that it was a huge scandal.
Whether the trial itself or the evidence used to incriminate its over 20 defendants or its sentences; the whole affair is a real scandal for Egypt. For months those of us who have been following the case , know very well how scandalous it was and how insulting it was to the true concept of judiciary before Egypt.
The international reactions rejecting the sentence continued. Following Netherlands and UK , Australia summoned Egypt’s deputy ambassador to object officially the sentence against Peter Greste.
France also rejected the sentence demanding a new trial with a new independent investigation.
US officials are demanding President El-Sisi to pardon Al-Jazeera staff and the new elected president answered at the Military academy graduation ceremony that he would not interfere in judiciary which means that there will be no pardons.
Of course some speculate that the Al-Jazeera staff scandal will end up like the Foreign NGOs workers who left Egypt on the board of US military jet in 2011. Well I am afraid none of the Al-Jazeera staff is American or his father was a former secretary.
The Australian and British tweeps launched hashtags to boycott Egypt and not to travel to the country which is trying by all measures to mend its touristic financial losses in the past 3 years.
Renowned actress and activist as UN ambassador Mia Farrow joined those tweets and urged people not to come to Egypt.

UN correspondents are holding urgent meeting tomorrow to discuss the trial and what happened to their colleagues journalists in Egypt

BBC journalists as well Al Jazeera International showed their solidarity today online and offline to the imprisoned staff insisting that journalism is not a crime
Anyhow all this is outside Egypt.
Except for my friend Kareem Farid who showed his solidarity with Al Jazeera staff in a bold move , no Egyptian journalist showed his solidarity in Egypt with Al-Jazeera staff case.
Thanks to the mainstream media and Ultra-Nationalism and lies doses given to the public , the public opinion does not see anything wrong in the verdicts and some believe that those journalists tried to destabilize the country and spread lies.
Do not blame those people because what they are being fed in the media make them believe so. Different views let alone facts are not welcomed to be shared in the media , the only facts approved in the media are the facts approved by the regime. It is like living in a real life 1984.
Some journalists like renowned Ibrahim Eissa who used to say that journalist should be sent to jail are supporting the harsh sentences. Of course this is the last blunder for the former Pro-Revolutionary Current Ultra Pro- El Sisi supporter journalist Eissa.
The current Egyptian regime decided not to give a damn for this scandal as it learned from Mubarak’s regime not to be soft.
Already it current regime cares less for foreign pressures because simply its main financiers are now in the Gulf besides of course it received from the States half billion dollars earlier this week.
Why to care not to mention it seems that Egypt may play a role in that crisis of Iraq and we know that our military participation in any fight in the Gulf is not for free and millions are paid later.
The current regime is taking notes from regimes in Israel and in Africa on how to create human rights disasters and lower the ceiling of freedoms so people would ask for less and the world will get bored by time.
Now we are not speaking about the freedom of parties or laws for better supervision and political representations or reforms but rather fundamental freedoms like assembly and expression for God sake. Already in time of Adly Mansour , we had 41,163 detainees across the country in politics/Protests/terrorism related charges and cases.
We have over 1000 death sentences issued in one year where not less 100 death sentences are upheld in one of the trial where a Christian defendant is sharing the same fate of the Supreme guide of the Muslim Brother !!
Simply we are back to square one and if it were not for Peter Greste and other foreign defendants nobody would have cared

You Can Blame Yourself Dr. Alaa now !!

If in one year we end up with military rule, we don’t blame the military. We can only blame ourselves.

Alaa Al-Asway in an interview to the New Yorker Magazine
January 2014

I remember these words as soon as I read renowned writer and novelist Alaa Al-Aswany’s announcement on his official twitter account that he would no longer write in Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper because only one view is welcomed in the paper.

Dear readers , I stopped writing in Al-Masry Al-Youm. Thank you for following my weekly column , we will meet inshallah in another place.

Different views are no longer allowed ; only one view , one though and one talk. It is no longer acceptable to have different opinion and to criticize. It is no longer acceptable to say the truth but to praise only.

Strong words.

Of course on that night Al-Aswany had his shares from Pro El-Sisi TV channel media attacks to the level that he complained about it next day on twitter.

As soon as you express a different view , the TV hosts go and insult you using the worst names and accuse you of treason. The regime accepts this morale terrorism.

President El-Sisi demands us to have manners. Is it from manner to accuse an Egyptian citizen of treason because he has got a different opinion than the president’s opinion.

Giving no further details , people were not so surprised because as it is no secret that the Pro-25 January revolution and its prominent faces from activists, protesters, intellectuals,TV hosts and writers are being stalked whether legally or in the media in not so-secret war.

The last op-ed for Al-Aswany had a direct criticism to El-Sisi and the protest law where he published an alleged letter from a young protester who decided to leave the country and immigrate due to the lack of freedoms in Egypt.

Eventually Al-Masry Al-Youm revealed that the bestselling novelist decided to stop writing there because the newspaper did not publish a teaser on the printed Front page of the paper for his three last articles as it was agreed upon in his contract.

Then Al-Aswany fired back claimed that the newspaper’s administration was forcing to him accusing the regime of pressing the administration to stop him.

Al-Masry Al-Youm’s owner Salah Diab denied those accusations and so on.

I do not care if Al-Aswany was acting like a diva or that Al Masry Al Youm was actually pushing him to leave the newspaper in the same way Al Shorouk did with Belal Fadl but I care for the fact now only he began to feel that there was something wrong after all those months. He failed in doing his homework I am afraid.

Ironically the New Yorker’s piece speaks about Ibrahim Eissa too , the so-called liberal prominent journalist who is now justifying the imprisonment of his fellow journalists in Egypt.

Now Dr. Alaa Al-Aswany is speaking now but where he was in the past year when voices were gagged and activists were sent to prison not mention human rights were abused widely. He should have spoken about the human rights committed against the Islamists before the Non-Islamists.

I know that faces like Al-Aswany were kept away in the media yet he should have been more vocal, more vocal about that the scenario he kept warning us of during 2011 and 2012 a.k.a The Counter Revolution or as he used to say “The Romanian Scenario”.

It is an irony because the man who introduced us to “The Romanian Scenario” fell for it.

I think Dr. Alaa Al-Aswany is blaming himself now for that unconditional support to El-Sisi.

By the way I do not consider Alaa Al-Aswany as a liberal , the Foreign media should know the difference by name. Al-Aswany like many intellectuals from his generation is Nasserite.

Of course Nasserites have a very soft spot for the military , for nationalism and populism and are still trying to achieve their lost bloody dream of 1967 in 2014 regardless the fact that

Anyhow I do not gloat over Al-Aswany as some are doing because I consider him an important voice and it is better to wake up late than never but it is still too late.

The more voices are forced to shut up and to be cornered , the more damaging it will be for Egypt and its people more than you think.

#Aswan and the Return of The Tribal Fight : Try blaming the MB for it this time

As people were preparing for the holy month of Ramadan as well watching the World Cup , terrible news came from Aswan late Thursday.
New tribal clashes erupted tribal clashes between "El Hilaliya" and Nubians in Aswan last April.  Three Nubian men were killed and their bodies were mutilated horrifyingly by men allegedly from “El-Hilaliya” tribe. The victims are Nubians from “Daboodiya” and “Combania” tribes.
It is not clear that if it is an act of retaliation for what happened last April or not but usually in Upper Egypt or rather the South old grudges play extreme role in such violent crimes.
Last April tribal clashes between Arab “El-Hilaliya” tribe and Nubian “Daboodiya” shocked the nation for real where not less than 26 were killed , over 50 were injured and many houses were torched. It was one of the most worst vendetta tribal clashes Egypt has seen in the past 5 years.
I remember that the regime stuck to its official story that the evil Muslim Brotherhood was standing between the clashes and they even arrested a Nubian teacher “well respected in his community” accusing him of standing behind the fight !! I wonder what they would claim this time.
As usual the government stuck to its old methods of triumphing the tribal judiciary over the true state of law during then. Al Azhar institution sent a committee to oversee a reconciliation plan between the two groups in another TV fake scene we learned by heart.
You have to deal with the roots of the problem using the right way : Apply the state of the law fairly and justly along with citizenship, enforce the true state concept over the tribe concept !!
Anyhow from what I read the government this time , at least the ministry of interior are taking its precautions for fear things develop violently like last time.

#KoftaGate : Showtime after another 6 months

And the Engineering authority of the armed forces held today its international news conference to declare the results of its breakthrough medical inventions to diagnose and treat HCV and HIV commonly known as The Koftagate  in Egypt and abroad.

Several months ago the army announced that HCV and HIV treatment would be available next 30 June 2014.

Despite it is not the 30th yet , the army has declared the following : Despite the results of the Complete cure device "CCD" are allegedly 100% positive as tested on 80 patients "HCV and HIV" , the treatment will not be applied for another 6 months because it needs more clinical tests.
The Complete cure device

There were another interesting announcements about the CCD as it turns out that it does not treat Liver fibrosis and that it did not cure either the late stage HCV patients. The army also screened a documentary about the Engineering authority and its history with the different authorities and agencies working under the umbrella of the armed forces like the Nuclear supervision authority.

Despite initially announcing that the CCD is a top national security secret that won't be shared with anyone , there was a brief description about how the device it works.

From what I understand very few journalists were invited to attend the press conference mostly from military correspondents.

Mada Misr founder and journalist Lina Attallah attended it too and she tweeted couple of details like how the fact that the ancient Egyptians were pioneers in medicine was a proof that the Egyptian army was capable to invent devices like C-Fast and C-Cure Device. Blogger and Dr. Mostafa Hussein attended it as a doctor. Here is a quick summary for Dr. Hussein saw at the presser earlier Today in Arabic.

Journalists Lamiaa Hassan from Ahram Online and Mohamed Yahia ,the editor of Nature Middle East magazine failed to attend the conference.

Amazingly the absence of Assigned Major General Abdel Atti aka Dr.Strangelove was noticeable ,
Abdel Atti's dreams by amazing Ternz
For months The ministry of defense continued in marketing and promoting Abdel Atti’s devices and they even showed them in a medical supplies show. Blogger and Dr. Mostafa Hussein went there and had a first hand experience with the C-fast devices including C-Fast device for the Cholera virus !!!!Yes the Cholera virus !!
Interestingly  the ministry of health in Egypt announced from several months ago that it succeeded in reaching a 99% price cut for the new HCV treatment “Sovaldi” after negotiations with Gilead Pharmaceutical .It is worth to mention that the man behind “Sovaldi” is an Italian Jewish scientist from Egyptian origin , Dr. Remon Shinari.
One must wonder why the government would have such negotiations in the first place when the army is insisting that it found a cure not only HCV but HIV as well and bunch of other deadly diseases like cancer !! This is another mystery in the whole affair.
Needless to say one of the theories we got in Egypt is that the “C-Cure” device will be actually doses of “Sovaldi” behind closed doors !!

This theory now can be proven right because according to Dr.Madiha El-Khatab , the member of the team behind the CCD the patient will take pills "she didnot say which pills" in his treatment course besides the sessions of CCD

Ironically through the past week another scenario spread by some Pro-army supporters online that the Egyptian intelligence managed to steal the patents of HCV treatment from one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the States and brought it back home to treat the patients !! Those supporters do not know the legal implications of such claim unfortunately.

To be honest the whole affair is too expressive as I see it ,I mean you got military arrogance , charlatans, hypocrites , ignorance and chauvinism in one shot !!!

I do not need to say no one insults and defames the Egyptian armed forces except those who are insisting to put on that show harming the feelings of thousands of patients who had very high hopes to be cured by the army for free !!!

#Ramadan Arabian Nights #2014: King Dandash’s tale-1

Ramadan Karim and welcome back to our annual tradition  in Ramadan : Listening to the Egyptian Radio’s Classical Arabic Nights.
This year’s tale is the tale of King Dandash.
Yup King Dandash , one must wonder how Taher Abu Fasha came with such names.
Tonight's episode was the 343rd episode in the Egyptian National radio's Arabian nights.

Now a quick summary for tonight’s episode
Poor Sultan Dandash is suffering from bad insomnia, the man can not sleep. In one night he decided to take his vizier and  to go around his realm while being disguised as a Dervishes . “A common theme in 1001”
During the Sultan and vizier’s tour , they found a noise coming from a boat in the river. So they asked a poor man in his boat about it and the poor man told them that that was the Sultan’s boat and Sultan Dandash was having one of his happy nights tours in the boat right now along with his Vizier.
Angry as well curious to know who dared to impersonate the king like that , Sultan Dandash and his vizier decided to follow that the fake king’s boat.
Tomorrow insh Allah we will continue the rest of our new tale for this year.
You can go back to Egyptian Chronicles’ archives of 1001 Arabian nights.

Do you remember that Taiwanese YouTube Channel that explains every interesting news in the world through animation !?
Well they are back to explain to the Taiwanese people what is currently happening in Egypt , exactly what has happened to Al Jazeera English staff after the scandalous trial that made us the joke of the world.
Here is their video to explain to the Taiwanese people the Al Jazeera English staff's trial. Of course new elected president El-Sisi's image is not good at all.

Now speaking about Al Jazeera staff , Peter Greste's family set up an e-mail "Freepetergreste@gmail.com"for the people to send their solidarity emails to the award winning journalists ; those emails are going to be printed out and delivered to Peter in Tora prison as far as I understand.

Mohamed Fadel Fahmy decided to give El-Sisi's initiative LE 15,000 to boost the economy, Fahmy's family hopes that such donation would make El-Sisi thinks of pardoning their son. It is just sad. I do not know what to say. El-Sisi already stated that he would not interfere in judiciary which means that he may not pardon anyone.
El-Sisi's initiative launched last week after the announcement of the newly elected president at the military academy that he would give up half of his salary as a president as well half of fortune to Egypt in an attempt to boost Egyptian economy. Hours later the Central Bank of Egypt announced that it did set up a bank account to receive the donations of all those who wanted to help in boosting the Egyptian economy through donations.
Well Egypt's economy will not be revived by donations or aids or loans I am afraid.
Back to the aftermath of AJ staff trial , well the cartoon of Economist summarizes perfectly with all the arrests of journalists and activists.

Here is another cartoon from Financial Times about El-Sisi and his crackdown against journalists by Ingram Pinn.

And tonight we continue our interesting tale ; the tale of King Dandash and that fake Sultan using his name.
Tonight's episode is the 344th episode from our radio nights' tale.
Here it is

A quick summary in English for tonight's episode :

Sultan Dandash and his vizier disguised as Dervishes stalked the fake Sultan's noisy merry boat till it reached a palace on the other bank. Reaching  that huge palace with guards , the fake dervishes insisted to go on and try to enter it. The poor boat's man refused to go on with them.
Busted by the guards , soon enough the fake dervishes found themselves in the middle of the fake Sultan's royal court. The true Sultan Dandash was amazed to see the fake Sultan had a more luxurious throne and more beautiful maids.
Claiming to be Dervishes , the two men were amazed to know that that night was the Sultan's so-called misfortune night. Dared to ask real Dandash asked the fake King if he were whom he claimed to be and why he had got a "a misfortune day", the fake king went made and ordered his guards to be kicked out of the palace.

Notes of #30June Presidential Palace explosions "+18"

Today marks the first anniversary of 30 June mass protests that led to the ousting of President Morsi aka 30 June Revolution and today also 4 explosive devices shocked Heliopolis in the premises of no other than the Presidential palace.
2 explosive devices were defused and 2 explosive devices were detonated killing at least two police officers "from explosives department" and injuring not less than 7 officers.
Now there are certain remarks about that sad attack :

  • Interestingly enough "Ajnad Misr" published a statement on Friday "27.6.2014" stating its responsibility on its official for the explosive bomb in Heliopolis court warning civilians that that they set up other explosive devices in other places including none other than  the premise of the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis. The militant group interestingly even highlighted the exact location of the bombs they planted nearby the Presidential Palace  in red bold font !!
The statement
  • Here is the tweet :
  • Sorry they did not find them but rather the street sweepers who called the security forces !!
  • Of course on Friday the ministry of interior on Friday underestimated the statement claimed to be an attempt from the group designated as terrorist organization last May to scare the people on 30 June. The MOI added the presidential palace was fully secured.
    Late El-Ashmawy
  • Amazingly the MOI and Presidential Guards ignored such statement which is very curious.
  • So since last Friday there were explosive bombs or devices and only today the police went to search for them !!!
  • Late officer Ahmed El-Ashmawy managed to defuse an explosive device and failed to defuse the other which killed him and injured others.
  • Photos and video show them wearing plain clothes and police clothes not the special safety explosive suit or special precautions as you can see in the video showing the explosion moment caught in camera. "The video is graphic"
  • I apologize for publish it but this video is heartbreaking by all measures when you think about it. All this could have been avoided if strict rules were applied when dealing with explosive devices.
  • After the first explosion , another explosive blew up killing another police officer and injuring a number of other police officers.
  • Then suddenly we see the police using the explosives robot and its experts are now wearing that ant-explosive gears !!

  • In any respectable country the minister of interior and the Cairo security directorate commandership should be questioned on their failure, on how they got details about the explosives devices on Friday and did nothing except today and how the explosive devices experts are not wearing their safety suits !?
  • Ajnad Misr claimed responsibility eventually and even revealed that the security found an explosive device they set up near to the Presidential palace on Friday but decided to not to reveal it to the public.

Sorry for the delay but here we are continuing our interesting tale tonight.

Here is the third episode of our tale. It was the 345th episode of the show on the Egyptian National radio.

Now here is the episode , you can listen to it in Arabic after the break. An English synopsis of the episode is below .

Now we are being introduced to a new character the Queen or rather Sultana Malka who is dying to get one big jewel for her crown. Her husband King Dandash orders the jewelers to get one.

At the same time King Dandash and his vizier decided to return back as dervishes to check once again that fake king and his luxurious palace. Returned once again to the river and taking the same boat like time , the two disguised men arrived to the palace to find no one. Suddenly the palace was deserted.Extremely furious , the king orders his vizier to arrest the owner of that palace who claimed to be a king.

Sultana Malka goes and complaints to her husband that the jewel she wants for her crown is owned by a man called “Shamalan The lazy” who refused to sell her the Jewel.

The vizier found out that the owner of the palace is a foreign man who is not from their realm , that foreign man comes to visit their kingdom once a year.

That foreign man is no other than Shamalan the lazy.

Tomorrow night insh Allah we will know more about Shamalan and his mystery.

They were protesting for better education in #Egypt only

Yesterday security forces dispersed by force as usual a small protest made by high school students in  front of the ministry of education in Cairo.

The high school students were protesting yesterday in several governorates against the failed educational system in Egypt following the secondary stage's exams and its online cheating scandal this year.  These students were demanding a better educational system. They called their movement "The students' revolution"

Of course President El-Sisi made it clear that he would not listen for any protesters' demands. Needless to say that this is not some demand of certain group , the demand of those boys should be the aim of the state : To fix the bloody failed educational system in Egypt. This is the future of Egypt for God's sake.
As usual the photos of the protest's dispersal showed the usual amount of civility and human rights respect the Egyptian police is known for.

This 16 years old boy was later beaten in the police station where he was detained along other six students.

It is worth to mention that the students hurled rocks at the security forces. We do not know how things did escalate but I know very well an edited video showing the students hurling rocks first spread like fire in all the Pro El-Sisi websites and Facebook pages as a justification of the police's brutality.

If we are going to speak about breaking the protest law and having unauthorized protest then we must admit that the police violated the protest law as usual.

Already dispersing the protests got specific steps from warning the protesters before using water cannons and tear gas grenades. Beating of the protesters is not mentioned in the protest law. The same law mentions specifically that the police force participating in dispersing the protests should be wearing their police uniform.

Those young teenage students are currently investigated by the prosecution. I do not know if they are going to be referred to the criminal court for illegal protesting or not but I am praying that they won't be referred to court.

I know that the regime is cracking any movement with no mercy for the sake to kill any protesting movement and to make people fear again. The thing is that they do not only make needed peaceful change in hard times like these impossible but they also breed violence and give terrorism and radicalism  a fertile soil to grow. The thing is that the old state does not only want to control the present but it wants to control the future.

Sorry for the delay , one was busy with the Blair’s consultancy project in Egypt. Anyhow let’s leave Blair , El-Sisi and their realm and go back to Scheherazade's realm as it is much better by all measures.

Tonight Scheherazade continues her tale about King dandash and that interesting mysterious man claimed to be Sultan who owns a jewel even the king does not own ; Shamalan the Lazy.

Here is the 345th episode of the Egyptian radio Arabian nights after the break.

By the way is the player working fine in Google Chrome !?

Here is the synopsis :

King Dandash sends his order to arrest Shamalan the lazy to the rulers of the foreign countries. In his way back to his home Shamalan is warned that King Dandash wanted to arrest him because of the Jewel his wife is seeking. Shamalan decides to send to King Dandash the Jewel and even to return to that kingdom.

The Queen tells her husband that she got the diamond. After his arrest Shamalan was taken to Dandash’s court where he presented a bigger Jewel to the king and the queen. The King got too many questions to Shamalan : Why did he lie and claim to be the Sultan ? and why did he have a day for his misfortune !?

Shamalan , the lazy told the king that he did not lie because he was once a sultan and … he started to tell King Dandash his tale.

Come back tomorrow to know the tale of Shamalan.

Regarding the Blair’s Project in #Egypt

The Guardian’s report about Tony Blair and his possible work as adviser for El-Sisi in Egypt under Emirati Sponsorship is the talk of the town at least online in Egypt today instead of football match.

The British newspaper published a report saying that former British PM Tony Blair accepted to ‘advise’ president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as part of a programme funded by the UAE to help ‘business opportunities’ in Egypt.

Not only Blair was said to advise El-Sisi but also his former press secretary Alastair Campbell was also giving a PR advice to El-Sisi and the Egyptian government. Oh yes Campbell of the doggy report of Iraq invasion. I wonder if El-Sisi and Egyptian government know read more about Campbell !!

Both Blair and Campbell are part of the UAE programme according to the report. This report is not made by The Guardian’s correspondent in Egypt Patrick Kingsely but by Seumas Milne.

Milne wrote yesterday that Blair should be sacked from his position as Middle East peace envoy mentioning more interesting details about Blair and his UAE connections in Comment Is Free. The Guardian’s editorial also spoke about him too.

Of course today El-Sisi’s supporters accused the Guardian of lying and that it was being owned by the Qatari which is untrue while some of them did not reject the idea that the man who led Iraq invasion and supported the New Middle East map in 2003 was actually advising Nasser 2014 aka El-Sisi because Obama hates him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end Blair’s office issued a statement denying that the former British PM was working as ‘ formal adviser’ to El-Sisi and that neither he and his companies ‘have any commercial interest in Egypt, nor are they seeking business in Egypt’

Well interesting use of wording indeed because the Guardian actually said that Blair was being paid by the Emiratis for their own plans to help El-Sisi economically so he can be “informal” adviser.

Already Blair has been from the early western politicians that declared their support to El-Sisi and the regime in Egypt after 3 July and has been a frequent guest in Cairo for months so far.

It is worth to mention that after leaving the office e Blair was also a guest in Gamal Mubarak’s conferences in Mubarak SR’s last years in office if you can remember this.

The scary part in the Guardian’s report is not Blair’s consultancy , already the man used to advise Qaddafi and we all know what happened to him but actually those words“UAE-funded Egyptian taskforce in Cairo now forms a shadow government within the government.”

Talk to me about Egyptian sovereignty !! This reminds me so much how UK and France appointed officials in the Egyptian cabinet after the British invasion in Egypt.

Anyhow when I look to it from another side not only UAE and Saudi Arabia as well are trying to help El-Sisi to succeed economically and politically but they also are worried that all those billions they spent in the past year would end like the billions or the trillions they had used to send to Mubarak in corruption.

Now I can not help thinking about how many Pro El-Sisi supporters are cursing ElBaradei and blaming him for what has happened to Iraq and yet their president has been receiving one of the true criminals who destroyed Iraq by lies for months and their media is praising Blair and his war on the Muslim Brotherhood in UK and in the world.

I mean now Blair is said to be advising El-Sisi whom they believe that he saved Egypt from a similar Iraqi chaos scenario as well the region from the so-called New Middle East plan launched by none other than G.W Bush and Tony Blair !!

By the way for those who forgot ElBaradei’s position from the war on the Iraq blaming him for the destruction of this great nation exhausted by after years of dictatorship and failed military conquests , I dedicate this video.

ElBaradei and his speech in front of the security council about Iraq and its nuclear project

On the other hand here is Egypt and Gulf’s friend Tony Blair delivering his speech about Iraq and the importance of military action against it .

Tony Blair makes the case for the Iraq war in 2003

Here is Tony Blair speaking in 2010 about the Iraq war. I hope someone translate these videos to Arabic and dedicate it to those El-Sisi’s supporters crying rivers on Saddam now.

Tony Blair defends his position in Iraq inquiry in 2010

And he has no regret for what happened.

Tony Blair has no regret for what happened “Iraq is better and our security is better” in 2010

Also I hate to bring this up but if we are bring to blame ElBaradei for the destruction of Iraq then you must bring up the role of Mubarak and before him the great Gulf above them Saudi Arabia whether in 1990s or in 2000s. I have not forgotten.

Actually seeing Blair in Egypt makes me fear the fate of Iraq as I remember the visits of Donald Rumsfeld to Iraq in the 1980s as well how Blair himself was advising and helping Qaddafi not to mention the US economic help to Augusto Pinochet in Chile.

I am concerned on our national security and its secrets seriously speaking with all that Gulf-Western politician aka war criminals like Blair meddling in our matters like that.

As I am Sick and tired I missed last night episode of the Radio Arabian nights but it is never too late to return back to this fairy tale world , it is much better than the depressing daily dose of torture , murder, detention and explosives devices in addition to austerity measures in Egypt

And we are back to the tale inside tale , the famous technique used in 1001 book. Tonight we will begin to know the mystery and tale of Shamalan, that filthy rich man who was once a Sultan and now is being called Lazy Shamalan.

We are introduced to Shamalan’s parents , a very poor couple living in the woods. The father “Zakzok” works as a woodsman while the mother “Mabrooka” is a housewife. Living happily despite their poverty , only one thing the woodsman and his wife wished for : To have a kid.

One day Mabrooka is warned by a friend that her husband may marry another woman for the sake of the baby.

In desperate moment Mabrooka calls for a miracle and suddenly out of nowhere a dervish appears to her. That dervish calls himself “Abu Tarab” and he gives her an apple. He told her to boil that apple and eat her that night and that she would have a happy baby. Mabrooka would listen to the strange Dervish’s instruction carefully but something happened suddenly that changed everything.

And of course things happen unexpectedly to change the course of fate in our Arabian Nights’ tale of mysterious Shamalan.

Tonight is the 348th episode in our Classical Radio nights. You can hear the episode after the break in Arabic and read the synopsis in English.

Mabrooka listened to the instructions of the strange dervish carefully , she boiled the apple he gave her in a cauldron. For some reason she left her hut leaving the apple to boil and for another reason Zakzok , the woodsman returned  the hut earlier. Already he did not feel well.

Zakzok ate the apple. When his wife returned from the market , she told him about the story of “Abu Tarab” and the magical apple. Did not believe much in such talk , the couple laughed. Mabrooka wondered if her husband would become a pregnant.

Next day the wicked lady friend of Mabrooka was speaking with Zakzok wondering why wickedly he would not marry another woman to have a child.

Selling the wood her husband brought from the forest at the house of chief merchant in the city , Mabrooka got a generous offer to work as a maid but she refused.

Back at their small hut , Zakzok feels sick and wishes to eat beans mud “whatever that thing is” and her wife is wondering sarcastically if he were pregnant

Zero Hero decision : Raise the price of the Fuel, raise the price of everything

On Friday cars stood in queues in front of fuel stations waiting for their turn to get fuel for hours after breakfast as soon as possible before 12 AM. Word hit the streets yesterday that the government would raise the fuel prices by midnight and yes it did at Zero Hero aka 12 AM.
The prices of lowest-value Octane 80 fuel rose by 78 percent and the cost of diesel rose by 64 percent. The energy subsidies are cut in the new budget that suffers from huge deficit.
Lifting up the subsidies like that as well the increase in the price of fuel mean that there will be an increase in everything else using transportation in the society above them food supplies. It is like a chain reaction.
On Sunday a presidential law was issued with an increase in the sales tax of cigarettes 50% as well beer “200%” and wine “150%”. Of course I do not understand why the wine’s sales taxes would be less than the beer.
This decision is identical to Morsi’s decision to increase taxations and customs in 2012 , a decision he would take and then later had to cancel it after huge criticism and anger.
Amazingly El-Sisi did what Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood wanted to do from passing laws like protest law , stopping Bassem Youssef’s show and taking decisions like increasing the prices of the fuel and yet there is no anger or outcry in the media.
This time I doubt that with El-Sisi’s personality and the support he got from every state institution above them the army and the media as well from abroad that the Field Marshal would change his mind and cancel these decisions. Already this is what the IMF wanted to happen in Egypt form long time.
El-Sis did what Mubarak and the Muslim Brotherhood as well El-Sadat failed to do when you think about it. May be both Mubarak and Morsi should have issued their decisions in Ramadan as well.
Of course we must admit that the regime chose the perfect timing in Ramadan , in summer time during the World cup along with the constant bombings in Cairo and ISIS declaring the Caliphate in addition to the evil Muslim Brotherhood that wants to be back. You got a protest law and you got a media that would make any protester thinks twice before spending 15 years in jail.
Some predict that those decisions can be an introduction to an uprising like in the 1977 but let’s be clear here I do not see this possible happening soon as I hinted above. May be I am wrong.
Yesterday some microbus drivers and taxi drivers organized strikes in several areas in Cairo , Giza and other governorates. Needless to say in the past 24 hours there were many reports of fights between drivers and passengers over the increase in fares. The fishermen in several governorates are having their own strike against the new fuel’s prices.
On the other hand you got the PM saying proudly that he got a promise from the Micro-buses drivers in Cairo that they would not raise the fare and that the Cairo and Giza governorates gave their orders to taxi drivers that they would not raise their fares. As if the drivers would listen to those orders.
Ironically El-Sisi admitted in his meeting with the journalists today that the government did not have the mechanism to control the market “it is good that the ex-military man knows that” and that he would not stop in reforming the market.
By the way despite his presidential campaign promises that he would not tough the subsidies except after raising the the wages limits and so , El-Sisi said that he was totally against subsidies from a  year ago during his meetings with the army men.
Of course now Mohamed El-Arian in Cairo , I believe more neoliberal policies are coming in the way.
The El-Sisi supporters are now launching campaigns supporting the president’s decisions blindly for the sake of Egypt and so on without any consideration to the price they and their kids would pay

Panicked that her husband’s crazy secret would be exposed, “Mabrooka” hurries up to the hut to find another surprise waiting for her. “Zakzok” gave birth to a baby boy and that baby boy was delivered by none other than Dervish “Abu Tarab” through his leg !!!

The dervish tells the new father that that baby boy would have  great future.

After few hours the chief merchant arrives and sees the baby. Amazed to see the poor couple got a baby suddenly , he feels sad.
